Project Information:

  • Future Project ideas:
    • Water, hygiene and sanitation projects (Can be completed in 6-8 weeks)
      • Identifying communities in need of water and sanitation and construction of community water source, such as water tanks at schools (needed budget: $3,500)
      • Construction of pit latrine at school to improve hygiene and reduce dropouts (needed budget: $5,000)
    • Self-motherhood Project: Prenatal and newborn health (8 weeks +)
      • Caring for and training new mothers and newborns in basic health
  • Ideal group size: Can accommodate up to 15 interns
  • Number of groups: Two Nourish groups possible, at the same or different times
  • Skills: No specific skills needed, RHCF wants volunteers open to learning and who care for others
  • Accommodations: In the RHCF office, near the communities where they work, there are both shared and single rooms for interns as well as a cook

      • Transport costs to the field, food, accommodations : $500-$600 per intern for 6-8 weeks

Partnership History:

    • Chapters: University of Washington and University of Oregon
    • Project: Supported the construction of latrines and a water-harvesting tank at the community’s school. In order to ensure sustainability of the Project, local water maintenance committees and school health clubs that help train community members on how to maintain facilities and on proper hygiene and sanitation practices were created.
    • Investment: $5,543.52

    • Project: Construction of a pit latrine in a high need school in the region. Education seminars in the school on hygiene and sanitation as well as creation of shcool health clubs.
